Samantha asks:
I had my hair coloured in December. I have very dark hair naturally and I went into a salon to have blonde highlights put through it. However, when it was finished, the blonde started about 2 inches away from my roots and did not look very good, I complained about it and the hairdresser told me that you have to leave a large expansion gap when using bleach in foils and if I wanted the blonde to be near my roots, I should have had a full head colour because you cannot get any foil close to the root, can you give me your opinion?

To be honest two inches does seem a very noticeable amount from the root. It is true that you cannot get exactly too the root area but it is usually close enough not to notice it, especially as its just been coloured. I would perhaps speak to the manager of the salon and see if they can help.

Debbie asks:
iíve recently had hair extentions, which have fallen out. could this be because the hair was not rotated after the first eight weeks. the stylist looked and said they were o.k, so just added more without rotation.

Hair extensions can last from 8 weeks to 12 weeks depending on how you care for them and the texture of your hair. Monthly rotations are advisable to lengthen the time of wearing the extensions but this is an additional service which you would be charged for. Rotating is simply moving any extensions that have grown or slipped down closer to the root. By your stylist replacing any that has been lost, that would help extend the life. Itís hard to advice without having seen your hair, but I would say that it may just be that your hair has reached its peak for extension wearing.

Jenny asks:
I have naturally curly hair but I straighten it all the time, I want it to be longer, I thought about hair extensions. I also color my hair and my question is- can I get extensions although I have to blow-out my hair to straighten it and what about the colouring?

Extensions are suitable for some curly hair but it really does depend on how curly. Racoon extensions are available in a natural wave that can be styled straight if required but they also have fabulous curly hair too. If you prefer your hair straight then you can blow-dry your hair and the extension hair straight. I would suggest natural hair rather than synthetic as this tends to be just straight. It would be best to have a consultation (call Racoon on 01295 770999 for your nearest salon) and they will be able to discuss the texture of extensions required. In regards to colour, hair extensions can be applied on coloured hair (again, a consultation is necessary to determine the strength of the hair). Racoon can actually colour match your hair exactly so that the extensions hair blends to your own. However, if you do colour your hair, ensure that you have your roots coloured prior to your consultation as the hair will be matched exactly - its no good changing the colour afterwards!
