Janice asks:
I am a 17 year old girl with wavy hair and the major problem with my hair is that it is becoming dry and brittle..with a lot of frizz and split ends. I have heard that these are the basic signs of hair loss. But nobody in my family has a hair loss problem, so could it be down to poor diet as I don’t use styling tools either? Whenever I tie a ponytail, I see small hairs on top looking lifeless and frizzy. What could be the root of the problem and what can I do to tackle this? I’d appreciate your advice.

Yes your diet can affect your hair the same way it does your nails and skin, so drink plenty of water. Keep your hair regularly cut to reduce and prevent split ends. Brittle and dry hair is not the first sign of hair loss - but if people tell you things like that the worry alone will make it fall out! The short hairs that escape from your ponytail could be a sign of new hair that has grown through or it may be that your hair is wavy and the hair cuticle sits in different directions. To minimise damage, try not to colour your hair too much and use weekly conditioning treatments to keep hair healthy. |

Hello , I really need you’re help.My Hair is really dry and full of flyaways ,it’s a nightmare! I don’t know what to do anymore. I don’t use heat on my hair at all , I’ve never dyed my hair or anything. In my entire life I only straightened my hair like 4 times. I wash my hair once a week which is the ideal as it’s not stripping away the natural oils I believe. I don’t know what to do , It’s taking my confidence away. I would love to have that shiny looking hair but my hair is always dry no matter what. It looks like its damaged and I just feel like to cut it all off sometimes. Its horrible , please help me ! thank you

This could be down to the shampoo and conditioner you use, if it is too heavy try changing to a cleansing shampoo. If you ever do dry your hair with heat be sure to apply heat protector and speak to your colourist to have a clear gloss added to your hair. This doesn’t alter the colour but adds great shine to it which should help your confidence. |

Summer is always a great time to experiment with colour and haircuts. If you are looking for to transform your long locks I would suggest taking off some length and I’m not talking your regular 2 inch maintenance trim I’m talking 6 inches - you’ll feel much braver about experimenting with you style moving forward. ...More > With your colouring I’d be weary of going blonde over night ala Kim Kardashian - it will damage your hair. Whilst Kim’s colour change may seem dramatic she has been building up to an all over blonde for many months. My advice would be to opt for rich, dark browns and cool caramels to enhance your natural tones.
Happy Experimenting!!
