Julie asks:
I am a natural redhead with very think hair. My issue is that I want to take the volume down because it looks too big in photos; but I am afraid to thin it or layer because of the coarseness which has a tendency to make it poof out even more. What is the proper way to remove the volume and maintain it that way?

Try when blowing your hair to use a nozzle on the end of your hairdryer, for product use a straightening serum and a ceramic flat iron - take small sections of the hair at a time when using the straighteners and this should remove a lot of the unwanted volume. This should all help with your problem, and a good hairdresser will be able to deal effectively with layering.

Andy asks:
I am trying to find a new hairstyle because I have worn my hair long for a while now. My hair is not long enough to be pulled back or anything it is just down over my ears and down the back of my neck with bangs. I have dirty blonde hair that is slightly curly when I donít brush it, and though some people love it others donít like it at all. Iím looking for a style that people will still like but Iím tired of people talking about it looking messy. I have an oval face, and some hairstyles make me look like I have a big nose. What could I do?

First thing I would do is go through magazines (and the Style Gallery on this site) and see if there is anything you like. If you find something, take it into your stylist and ask them if it would work with your kind of hair and face. Most good stylists like to see magazine clippings or printouts as it helps them see where youíre coming from with an idea.

Talia asks:
Hi, I have always had coarse, poofy hair. I dry and straighten it like 3 times a week. Same routine for years. I am in the Army and was just re assigned to Germany. My hair has been so different ever since. Itís extra poofy and falling out (a lot). I use a Chi flat iron and dryer, I use heat protectant and condition daily with Joico. My hairstylist tells me I wash way too much (daily). I have no other option. I work out a lot (mandatory in the Army) and get sweaty. I have to wash daily. Any advice?

Hi Talia - Your using great tools and products, you might want to think about finding a different look by cutting it so you can wear it curly and have the option of using the tools you have. Push your hairdresser for more suggestions and if that does not work look for a new hairdresser.
