Elizabeth Duncan asks:
Hi experts, I naturally have dark brown hair. 18 months ago I had mid-to-dark blonde balayage colouring done professionally. Itís growing out but the bleached areas are quite brassy - wash with toner at my hairdressers hasnít really lasted and itís not responded particularly well to silver shampoo. Is it possible to apply a toner at home to neutralize it to a light brown ash colour, perhaps using a Goldwell product? Thanks for your help

Hi Elizabeth

Before you try toning it yourself try a silver conditioner, they are far more effective as they are designed to lay on and in between the cuticle layers of the hair. Leave on for 5 mins before rinsing and do it each time you shampoo your hair until you feel you have achieved the colour you want. ...More >

Then you should only have to do it every couple of weeks for maintenance. If that really doesnít work for you , yes a goldwell toner of an ash or violet base mixed with a no peroxide developer for 15 mins should do the trip. Make sure you also use colour save shampoo as it does help with the longevity of these type of toning solutions.

Good luck

Madlin asks:
Hi there - I have hair just below chin length cut into a bob with long layers. My hair is naturally fluffy waves (not defined curls) soft and fine hair but a lot of it. My blow dry never holds for more than an hour after leaving the house - I use good products, let the layers cool, use a good brush and dryer but after exposure to cool morning air and steamy train ride my hair has completed fluffed up, not frizz but thick full waves. What would you recommend to combat this? Thank you in advance! Madlin

Hi Madlin, Sounds like you are doing everything right, all I can suggest is a humidity spray this should prevent the fluff and fly-aways and help the blow dry last.
