Allie asks:
I would love to perm my hair but as a vegan, will only use cruelty-free products, are there any such perming products or uk salons that specialise in cruelty-free. I have searched all over the internet please help as i am fed up curling it with rollers etc!

Aveda is a very conscientious product range - I am not 100% sure they are cruelty-free but I do know that they really care about the environment.

Joanna Lees asks:
I have naturally very tight curly hair which although it sometimes goes into nice spirals, most of the time the curls are different shapes and go in all directions no matter what I do. I had yuko and liked it but have grown it out. I would like to be able to wear my hair in a looser curl, is there any way of doing this by having a loose perm or any styling technique I may not have tried. It is just reaching my shoulders at the moment.

You have a couple of options you could either get a soft relaxer such as Rusk Radical anti-curl, you could use a non-chemical hair relaxer such as Razzamatazz STRAIT TIME. or get a perm on large rollers to soften out the curl. This should be fine even if there is some old Yuko in there as both products are made with ammonium thioglycolate. However insist that your stylist does an incompatibility first, just to be on the safe side

Helen asks:
I have shoulder length hair cut into layers, when drying I use a diffuser and some mousse, but the top of my hair just will not curl, would a soft perm sovle this problem?

Yes! a soft perm would help. Actually a root perm would be sufficient. This will give you natural lift and add body without being overly curly. be careful not to overuse the mousse as it can weigh your hair down and the fact that it may dry out your hair will prevent your hair form curling. Make sure that you use good moisturising products that will enhance curl.
