Alice asks:
I have just had Loreal Xtenso put on my hair (3 weeks ago) to relax it. I have had it done previously, and Wellastrate, only for it to be wonderful for the first two weeks, then just come off my hair by the 3rd and 4th week, rather than lasting a few months, and the roots growing out. The previous time I had it done, say two years ago, even the next hairdresser I went to said it felt like there was none of it left on my hair and applied it to all of it, rather than just the roots. Eventually I gave up as it was to costly to only last a few weeks. So, recently, after really looking after my hair for two years, not dying for 5 months, I tried Xtenso again. The stylist, as did previous stylists used the milder version as recommended on hair that has had colour on it. And here we are again, out of pocket, and the frizzy mad hair returning after just a few weeks, why does this keep happening?

To be honest I fear that your hair is too resistant to these treatments. Unfortunately some people have naturally curly hair and it is so strong that no matter what product you use the curl/frizz will re appear after a short time. I would recommend that you have a consultation with a Trichologist to see if there is another solution.

Kendra asks:
My hair is fine to begin with but has been getting much thinner in the last 2/3 years that I have noticed it and maybe that is mostly caused by age (42), but I am wondering what I can do to change that - is there certain vitamins/foods that are recommended? I do not think its at the stage for medical treatment but I just want my hair healthy and to be thicker - it seems like I lose a lot more hair then grows back!! I have used Nioxin hair Products for Fine, chemically enhanced hair but not on a constant basis. I would like to know are they one of the top products to use for thinning hair or is there something better on the market? Are there any consumer reports on Nioxin products?

I have found that professional hair loss products provide great results but I would suggest that you keep using the product. Most of my fellow professional hairstylist do recommend professional products and have had great results on their clients.

Kyle asks:
My hair is exceptionally thick, falls in loose spirals, and comes down to the middle of my shoulder blades. I have been growing my hair out for the past couple of years, and I never had a problem with frizz until my hair approached shoulder length.

I immediately started using moisturizing shampoos and conditioners, letting my hair air dry, and shampooing every other day instead of daily, but it has only been getting worse. I tried a ridiculous number of hair products to see if I could style away the frizz, but the only thing that worked 100% was to straighten my hair.

I have since found some products I am happy with, but they are not able to control the frizz completely. I use Frizz-Ease shampoo and conditioner for curly hair, a deep conditioner as needed, and Frizz-Ease volume reducer for control. I do not care for serums, but I use them if I am going to be in the sun for a while.

I really do not want to straighten my hair or cut it shorter, so what can I do?

I would suggest using a clarifying shampoo and removing all product build up and starting form scratch. Check that the anti frizz products you are using do not contain silicone as this can cause the product build up. The use good moisturizing shampoos and conditioners that contain humectants such as coconut oil. And use a good moisturizing styling lotion to keep the curls defined
