Sadie asks:
I wonder if you can help me I had highlights put in my hair in last year and about a day later my head started to itch I went back to the shop and she said that it wasnít the dye she had put on but my friend said that it may be and now my hair looks a mess and I just want to dye it back to a dark brown which is my colour what shall I do. She also told me in the shop that the dye was a tea tree base and now I am scared to dye my hair as I donít want to go through this again!

To me it sounds like you have had an allergic reaction to the product. The best advice before committing to another colour is to book a consultation at a salon and explain what happened before.

I would insist on them carrying out a skin test before having colour, this will show any allergic reaction you could have before applying the colour and prevent this situation happening again.

Georgina asks:
I have been dyeing my own hair every three weeks for the last 7 years. My hair is very grey and I hate the white line of regrowth. I do it myself because I trained at London College of Fashion years ago. I use Schwarzkopf Igora Royal and 20 vol peroxide. I read recently that hair dyes can cause Cancer. I cannot stop dying my hair as I do not want to go around with almost white hair just yet. but is there a real danger? Are there any safe dyes, or any research that gives advice on what is safe and what is not?

Scare stories about the effects of hair dyes periodically crop up but there doesn't seem to be any proof of this being true. I would always recommend having your hair dyed by a reputable salon as new products, which may better suit your hair, are constantly being developed. At Keith Hall Hairdressing we insist on new customers having a skin sensitivity test at least 24 hours before colouring. A well trained stylist can also perhaps recommend a new style or colour which would make your regrowth less obvious.

Rosanne asks:
I have wavy hair mostly at the ends, very healthy no split ends when at home my hair looks healthy but when I go into the sun it tends to frizz and looks very dry. I love my wavy hair donít think I am using the right products to set my hair on a daily basis which will not damage my hair in anyway. Can you suggest any product to reduce frizziness so I can wear my wavy hair naturally?

I would recommend using L'Oreal Professional tec-ni art Liss control.

This product will help smooth and control naturally curly frizzy hair. It is excellent. ...More >

You can also work a small amount of L'Oreal Professional serum into the hair after drying for a beautiful shinny result.
