I have very straight shoulder length hair. I wash and blow dry it approximately every three days. The problem I am having at the moment, and have had in the past, is that my hair is very static/ flyaway. Every time I brush it drives me mad as it just starts becoming flyaway and it feels uncomfortable. I did buy a spray but this did not seem to make much difference. What do you advice?

Styling hair is about products. The best advice would be to invest in some professional products designed to control frizz for example Alterna Hemp Seed Thickening Compound. This will give you volume, body and control, all helping to eliminate that flyaway look. Additionally, changing your haircut to something more structured, for example a bob, will help to make your hair look stronger and thicker, once again reducing the static.

Can Matrix SO 506 give an allergic reaction? I had to switch to a new hair dresser. My old one was using Vela/professional and other brands which I never had a reaction to. The new one told me that Matrix which is manufactured by Biolage (which I love, I use their product line) told me that 506 will cover grey and it is honey based. My skull started itching immediately at the spot in the salon, I felt like my skin was on fire. Also the roots of my hair (and I have short hair) looked slightly lighter than rest of my hair. I do like the natural warm brown shade. Which brand can I use? I would like to be an informed customer. It is time to get a touch up and hair cut, but I am reluctant. After the accident I treated my skull with deep conditioning mask from Biolage, and also applied olive oil in the steam room which was very helpful. Which brand is safe to use? And I am not going to do it at home, as I never did.

It is important to remember that any product at any time can cause an allergic reaction so we would recommend before tying a new product that you have a skin test prior to application. In regards to your lighter roots, the reason for this is mainly due to colour choice. By taking the colour slightly darker on your next application, it will strengthen the tone and combat the problem.
The best way to stay informed and educated on colouring your hair and product choice is to have a consultation, giving you all the information you are after. In terms of a brand I would suggest, the Wella Professionals Koleston Perfect range it offers a selection of shades whilst will still maintaining good hair condition. If you have any reactions to any of the products you use, you should always seek medical advice straight away.

I have fine hair and a reasonably long face. I just wanted to know what sort of hairstyle would suit me and would make my hair appear thicker. It would also be helpful if you could recommend some products for volume enhancing.

I would recommend trying a structured style that compliments your oval face shape. The Pob has been a global hit and would be ideal for you. If you are a little fearful of having the chop, customise the cut to reflect your do if you dare level. This style is easy to maintain and gives you the opportunity to be creative. For work keep it simple and sophisticated but when you want your wild side to be seen, get your hands on to my super volumising Double Blow Mousse for body to die for– you will love the results!
