Joanna asks:
I regularly dye my hair dark brown, but before long an inexplicable red seems to emerge - my hair is not naturally red and it's been years since I last dyed it red - is there a fix for this?

The red that is coming through is what we call in the industry your Remaining Pigment Contribution, when hair is coloured and lifted with developer it starts to expose RPC. I would recommend you go Ĺ to 1 level darker or go with a lower developer to help control this. Your hair colourist will be able to help you with this situation and recommend the correct approach.

Emma asks:
I'm 16 years old and have dyed my hair various browns and once red over the past year, recently I have had blonde highlights put in to lighten my hair up as the browns got too dark and made me look really pale, but what I really want so much is an all over blonde - one shade not different coloured highlights, what do you suggest I do next time I get my hair done? Iím worried that if I keep having highlights I will never get the full head one shade blonde that I want.

The biggest concern here is the condition of your hair. It should be reasonably straight forward to get you to an all over blonde colour, but the process can be quite harsh on the hair.

I would strongly recommend that you book a consultation first with your hairdresser and make sure they carry out a strand test to determine whether your hair is strong enough and also to see what sort of result you can expect.

Angela asks:
Had my hair coloured red can I colour it blonde or what colour will cover it- itís mainly burgundy.

If you want to make the change from red to blonde, you should go into the salon for a colour correction appointment where they would gradually cleanse the hair to work towards a lighter tone. Although you will eventually reach the blonde shade you are hoping for, you will need some patience as to protect the hair and maintain the condition, so colour change will need to be done over a few appointments.
