I gave birth for the 2nd time a year ago, just after that my dad died so for the last year have been under a lot of stress. After giving birth I lost lots of hair but it started growing back but I now think the stress of the last year has taken its toll. I have naturally curly hair but cannot get it to curl anymore so am having to put it up every day. My hair is dry and flyaway. I have it highlighted but always have. I do not do anything differently. This problem is really getting me down. My ends are really dry and damaged, do I have to wait for it to grow, or shall I have it all cut off? I want my curly hair back.

Stress related hair loss is a little less so. Both are classed as temporary and reversible, so your hair will grow back properly but it can be difficult to say how long the stress related hair loss will continue for. Any excessive hair loss will revert back to a normal rate and new growth will eventually allow you to grow your hair longer again. In the meantime it might be better to keep you hair shorter so that it looks better, with less wispy ends. Also use a treatment conditioner to overcome the dryness, so when the bulk of your hair is ready to grow longer again it is in good condition and less likely to break.
