Braids meet bun

by JONATHAN DE FRANCESCO @ Brooks&Brooks

The inspiration behind the look
The inspiration comes from the idea of Recherché – a rare quality of refined attractiveness and elegance.

Does it have dress down/dress up options?
For the scalp braids, I think this look works better if the hair is up as it shows the fine detail of the braid. It could also be worn down but a different braid pattern would be more suitable.

Which hair types does it work for? ie fine/thick, etc
This style is definitely better suited to medium hair, the braid needs to be fine enough to create the softer detail. If the hair is too thick, the texture created would look too bulky and if the hair was too fine it would be hard to braid a strong shape.

High or low maintenance?
This kind of style is low maintenance one the braid is put in. The rest of the hair can be styled to best suit the wearer.

Any important blow dry/styling tips?
It is best to prep the hair with a good prepping lotion. If the hair is too soft, it’s really difficult to get a grip when braiding, making it difficult to build up any shape.

Best products for the style and colour?
A good prepping lotion is L’Oreal Techni Art Pli. The colour was achieved by deepening the roots with an iridescent violet then lightening the ends with a soft blend of copper to give contrast when all the hair is up. To maintain this colour and keep it fresh use the - L’Oreal Vitamino colour shampoo and conditioner.
