The shag is making an ultimate comeback this year

Trend Forecast 2015 from Shear Art Salon and Spa in Tampa, Florida

What do Chloe, Valentino, Tory Burch and Chanel all have in common? They all showcased 60's inspired waves, braids and length in their 2015 collections, calling for a bohemian revolution in the fashion industry.

In 2014 we saw the ultimate emergence of the cropped cut. Barely there pixies, collar-bone grazing bobs and chin length blunt cuts. It is time to transition from the structure of 2014 to the free-spirited elegance in 2015. Yes, this means the shag is making an ultimate comeback this year. The variations can be seen from the more tousled pixies- shaggy in their layering- to grown out lobs full of movement and swing. This layering and swing is created with undercut texture that frees the weight through the length and gives that hippie chic, rock n roll glamour.

The color trends of 2015 are following this bohemian theme, showcasing beachy blondes, babylights, sunkissed brunettes and chalky pastel tones. It is all about soft dimension this year. Balayage is taking the shag and natural wavy texture and complimenting it in exactly the right places. With this free- handed painting technique there is a more natural and effortless result that stays 2-3 levels within the overall tone.

In styling, the runways were filled with soft waves, chunky braids, deep side parts, teasing through the crown and low soft ponytails. Imagine Brigitte Bordot at Woodstock. One thing is certain, the perfection, structure and bold statements of last year have given way to a beautifully relaxed, boho chic essence.
