Styling And Trend Forecast by Carly Aplin

Styling And Trend Forecast Aw14, By Carly Aplin, Senior Artistic Team Member, Westrow

Move over middle partings, for Autumn/Winter 2014, the side parting is back. Fashionistas who find the severe middle-part too harsh can rejoice as the over-exaggerated side-part is bang on trend for the new season. I recommend slicking back one side to give a raw edginess, while showing off the natural beauty and texture of the other.

Accessories were everywhere on the Milan catwalks, from feathers and snakeskin to show-stopping hats and are ideal for setting off the natural, autumnal shades as seen on the new season runways.

Balmain's Autumn/Winter 2014 campaign was one of the season's most exciting, showing off touchable texture, glossy leather, bold pattern and, every woman's winter wardrobe staple, leopard print. The leather lace dresses were a personal favourite, clinging to curves with an added touch of rock-chick cool. To complement the look, I'd add a slicked-back wet-look ponytail.

Season after season, the catwalks are swamped with different versions of wet-look hair, but Céline's high shine ponytail is the most wearable yet. Simple, yet with extra wow-factor, the style was the perfect accompaniment to the designer's striking prints.
