Expert advice from Kala Kilshaw, ego Professional founder and head of Creative

Tips for quick and easy hairstyles changes: Small Change, Big Impact

Whether you want to completely revamp your hairstyle or make a few small tweaks to freshen up your look we have all the tips you'll need to liven up your hair in no time.

Use a temporary colour for a short term, style savvy fix.

Change your stylist – be daring and step out of your comfort zone, you never know what you might have missed until you try it

Go shorter – if you have always had the same haircut and style, going shorter can give you a real confidence boost as you step out with an edgy new look

If you're not quite ready for a complete colour change but are still feeling a bit daring, add a sprinkling of face framing high or low lights depending on your current hair colour

Have a short fringe cut in and reshape your eyebrows – instantly refreshing your look

Play It Safe

Expose the back of your neck with a soft chignon or high ponytail. It's amazing how a simple style change can work wonders

Twist unruly hair into a ponytail, then a knot. Mist with water and leave to dry then unravel for instant texture.

Back brush the crown, spritz and either tie or clip your hair to the side.

Try a few hair extensions for added volume and this will also allow you to experiment with a variety of styles

Slick back hair using wax and a little hairspray on dry hair and a vent brush for an instant transformation - add more colour to your lips if this one makes you nervous

Change your parting

Tuck your hair behind your ears and treat yourself to some new earrings

Whichever route you decide to take in transforming your hair I always recommend following the steps below to help maintain healthier looking hair

Vitamins A, D and E all provide benefits for the hair so ensuring your diet is full of these or taking supplements will help stimulate blood supply and improve condition

Always use shampoo and conditioner in professional recommendation – your stylist will be able to advise the best products suited to your hair type and condition, now you can get that silky soft salon feeling at home

Always comb conditioner through to help hair reflect light and shine

Use the temperature settings on styling tools – every hair type is different and remember hotter is not always better!

Use dry shampoo and a soft bristle brush for instant root lift without damage
