How to help your hair to grow faster

Ask a girl what she wants most for her hair and there is a good chance she will say for it to grow faster! The speed at which hair grows is different for everyone, but there are a number of ways you can help your hair to grow faster.





Here are four things you can do to encourage hair growth.

Eat the right foods

Healthy hair needs a diet rich in protein, plus key vitamins and minerals. Iron, selenium and zinc all prevent hair loss and help to keep your scalp and hair follicles healthy. Vitamins A, B7, C and E are all particularly beneficial for strengthening your hair and scalp. Omega 3 fatty acids are also important for hydrating your scalp and hair.



A healthy diet with a good balance of protein, fruit and vegetables – including nuts and seeds – is the best way to give yourself the nutrients you need for longer hair.Key foods include: oily fish, nuts, eggs, berries, sweet potatoes, sunflower seeds, avocados, chicken and oysters.

Eating the right foods will ensure a healthy scalp and encourage strong, healthy hair growth from within.

Massage your scalp

Good circulation is important for hair growth and massaging your scalp is an easy way to boost blood flow – and relaxing too! Massaging your scalp for 5-10 minutes each day can make a difference. If you can't manage that, ensure you take the opportunity to massage your scalp when applying your weekly or fortnightly hair treatment. Most salons massage your scalp when conditioning or applying a treatment to your hair, so relax and enjoy.

Have your hair trimmed regularly

Having your hair trimmed every six to eight weeks helps to prevent split ends and hair breakage, which is beneficial to achieving longer hair. Remember to remind your stylist that you are trying to grow your hair, just to make sure she doesn't get too scissor happy.

Avoid damaging your hair

Damaged hair breaks easily, taking away the length you've been longing for. Key causes of hair damage are: heat, bleach and lightening products, over washing, sunlight and chlorine.
