Shows you how to create the perfect fishtail
plait
|
You need to work with hair that has
a mattified texture. Ideally, that's
a day after washing, or cheat by sectioning
off the hair with a tailcomb and spraying
the roots with dry shampoo. Allow
to settle for a minute before combing
through. |
|
To inject extra body and height, backcomb
the top section, from hairline to
crown, with the tailcomb. Don't overdo
it, though; aim for 1in of height
from the top of your head. |
|
Sift through lengths of hair with
your fingers to create a tousled look,
then loosely pull them across to one
side, folding the hair neatly over
itself. Secure at the nape of the
neck with a kirby grip. Let random
strands fall around the face, keeping
the bulk of the hair aside to form
the plait. |
|
Create the plait using the classic
braiding technique. Aim for a loose,
chunky plait, securing it at the end
with a small, snag-free hair band.
Leave 2-3 in of length at the end
to form the fishtail.. |
|

Finally, add body and texture to
the length of the plait by massaging
it with your fingers in a circular
motion, so random strands come loose.
Once the hair is suitably static
looking, set it in place with a
quick misting of hair spray..
