Will Young was born in Reading/Wokingham, Berkshire, with a non-identical twin, Rupert. He also has an older sister, Emma. He was educated at Horris Hill preparatory school and Wellington College. At the age of 19, Will went to read Politics at the University of Exeter and received a 2;2. In September 2001, he became a student at The Arts Educational Schools in Chiswick, London, starting a three-year course in musical theatre with a scholarship.

On 9th February 2002 and after 4.6 million votes, British singer Will Young became the winner of the ITV television programme contest, Pop Idol. Soon, his debut single ‘Anything Is Possible/Evergreen,’ released on February 25, 2002, became the fastest-selling single in the U.K.- a title previously held by Band Aid’s 1984 hit ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas?’

Young went on to win two BRIT Awards, the first in February 2003 as Best Breakthrough Act and the second in February 2006 for his single Your Game which he co-wrote with Blair MacKichan.

Apart from his musical career he has also appears in the BBC film Mrs Henderson Presents and during the early months of 2007 has been appearing as Nicky Lancaster in Noel Coward’s The Vortex in Manchester’s Royal Exchange Theatre.
