LAZY, HAZEY SUMMER HAIR

Forget about complicated hair days, this summer choose a low maintenance look that you can just wash and go. Do this, first find a style that works with your hair.

If you let your hair behave naturally not only does it save lots of styling time but requires less products too. Not only will your hair look better but it will be so much easier to manage - a change in the humidity can cause hair to frizz if it is naturally curly or coarse, or be flyaway if it is fine and straight. Work a protective spray or serum into damp hair and allow to dry naturally.

If the though of spending the summer without your hairdryer makes you shudder, it is time to trade in your old hairstyle for a fuss free alternative. Go on book a appointment with your hairdresser to have a chat about a low maintenance look.

A variety of accessories helps to keep hair under control, out of your eyes and create simple but stylish looks. Choose covered bands and plastic clips for day wear and go for pretty glittery slides to dress your hair in the evenings.

EASY PEASY PONYTAIL

Sweep hair into a low ponytail to keep hair under control. Use a paddle brush to style hair neatly into place, a good trick is to spritz the brush lightly with natural hold spray to help tame as your style. Fix securely with hair band and wrap a tiny section of hair around the join, using a kirby grip to secure.

GET KNOTTED

Wearing long or shoulder length hair up is a great option for summer, not only does it look stylish it also keeps you cool too. Tie hair into a ponytail at the back of the head. Take the ponytail and wrap it around itself, securing at the base with plenty of kirby grips. Don't spend to much time, instead aim for a casual, dishevelled effect.

OR THE IN IN-BETWEEN LOOK

If you fed up with wearing your hair up but want to keep it off your face, try a look that's half up half down. Getting this look couldn't be easier, simply apply a tiny amount of leave-in conditioner and brush through. Grab hold of the section of hair directly above one ear and brush it back. Secure it at the back of your head with a clip, then repeat with the other side.

TOP HAIR FACTS

Dry hair is caused when it gets insufficient oil from your scalp

Greasy is caused by over-active sebaceous glands and it should be washed daily using a gentle shampoo

Cuticles surrounding the hair shaft lie flat when conditioner is used. In turn this creates an even surface that reflects light so your hair looks shiny

For best results, blot your hair with a towel before conditioning

Wash your hair every two to three days to stop build-up of dirt and sebum - the perfect excuse for bacteria

Don't wash your hair in hot water instead use lots of tepid water and never dirty bath water
