The L'Oréal Colour Trophy 2007
Grand Final - Northern Ireland

At the Northern Ireland final their live hairdressing skills were put under the spotlight by a panel of top hairdresser judges including Terry Calvert, Zoë Irwin, Nathan Walker and Rob Eaton. “The standard was incredibly high and it was really good to see competitors thinking about the total look,” explained Terry Calvert.”

ROGUE HAIR – Belfast
Karen Devlin and Jody Devlin from Rogue Hair in Belfast are through to the Grand Final of the L’Oréal Colour Trophy 2007.

Karen Devlin, salon owner, explains the thinking behind their striking image: “We loved the monochrome looks that featured on the Autumn/Winter 07. The hair cut is quite understated and the asymmetric lines add drama while luscious tones of red and burgundy inject a touch of forties starlet.
We are all so excited and the team has worked incredibly hard to get to this stage. It’s great when your salon’s talent and creativity is recognised in this way,” explained Karen Devlin, salon owner. “We are delighted to be going through to the Grand Final and can’t wait to party!

SOUL HAIRDRESSING – Belfast
Mark Robinson and Kelly Thompson from Soul Hairdressing in Belfast are through to the Grand Final of the L’Oréal Colour Trophy 2007.
Mark Robinson, salon owner, explains the thinking behind their striking image: “We’ve gone for a very futuristic look as seen on the catwalks in the Autumn/Winter 07 collections. The outfit incorporates chrome and silver and this strong theme is continued in the hair with strong lines, a heavy visor fringe and shades of blue, black and raspberry
We’re absolutely on top of the world,” exclaimed Mark upon receiving the award. “This is the fourth time we’ve entered the L’Oréal Colour Trophy but it will be the first time we go through to the Grand Final. I can’t describe what a fantastic feeling it is to get this far.

ZUNI HAIR & BEAUTY – Belfast
Noel Burns and Jane McCann from Zuni Hair & Beauty in Belfast are through to the Grand Final of the L’Oréal Colour Trophy 2007.
Noel Burns, salon owner and reigning Northern Ireland Hairdresser of the Year, explains the thinking behind their striking image: “We were inspired by Hollywood glamour and wanted to create a strong yet wearable look. This sleek style blends drama with creativity and the vibrant copper colour can be carried from Summer through to Autumn with ease by deepening the fiery red tones.
I knew we had a strong look and I felt a great sense of achievement when our salon name was read out,” explains Noel Burns. “It’s a real honour to represent your country in a competition of this nature and we are determined to be the first salon for Northern Ireland to win the L’Oréal Colour Trophy.

HAIR INC – Belfast
Ian Dickson and Ciera Johnson from Hair Inc in Belfast are through to the Grand Final of the Men’s Image Award of the L’Oréal Colour Trophy 2007.

Ian Dickson, salon owner, explains the thinking behind their striking image: “We’ve been heavily influenced by Emo music and youth culture. It’s a glam punk look that’s made ultra-slick and wearable with the balance of a super skinny suit, as seen on the catwalks of Dior Homme.
I’m absolutely thrilled and really excited to be representing Belfast at the highest level,” explained Ian Dickson. “Hair Inc is at the forefront of regeneration in the East Belfast and our salon is now leading the way for creativity on the biggest stage imaginable. It’s a dream come true

EXCLUSIVE HAIR COMPANY – Belfast
Yvonne Frankel, at the age of just twenty-two, an ambitious young hairdresser from the Exclusive Hair Company in Belfast is through to the Grand Final of the Young Colourist Award of the L’Oréal Colour Trophy.
I think it’s an absolutely fantastic opportunity for such a young team member.” said salon owner Tanya Curran. “Yvonne is a very inspirational colourist and I know that she’ll give 110% to the next phase of her exciting journey. To me, she’s won already just by getting this far.”
Speaking moments after she collected her award Yvonne said: “I’m ecstatic! This is a dream come true. This is the first time I’ve entered the L’Oréal Colour Trophy and I’m really looking forward to representing Belfast and the whole team at Exclusive at the Live Final next month.
