The Winning Team in
2006
GENTRY SALON - Last Year’s L’Oréal Colour Trophy Winner
was the team from Gentry salon in Goffs Oak, Hertfordshire.
At the Grand Final, they battled it out with 26 other
finalists competing in the final stage of this prestigious
contest.
In the first round of Awards, Gentry was named as the
winner of the London Region L’Oréal Colour Trophy. Later
in the evening, they took the L’Oréal Colour Trophy
title.
Hair Inspired by Fashion
Marc Eastlake was the hair stylist behind the winning
look, while Kelly Ling did the colour. Hiromi Kawai
was the make-up artist and |
Robbie Akers styled the clothing.
Their total look matched the brief to create
’Hair Inspired by Fashion’.
Celebrity hairdresser judges including Andrew Collinge, Charles
Worthington, Jo Hansford and Richard Ward were looking for
a combination of hair, make-up and fashion that reflected
the trends of Autumn/Winter 2006/07.
Marc says, "I came here tonight not thinking about winning
and then, once we won the Region, I started to think that
maybe we could do it. Now we’ve won the trophy I’m ecstatic!"
Team mate Kelly added, "It’s a real adrenaline rush!"
Tips from Last Year’s Winners
Here’s a couple of tips from the Gentry Salon team and some
news of the amazing year they’ve had since winning :
Q: How
did you come up with the concept for your final look?
A: We wanted to
build the look from a strong fashion perspective and ensure
that all elements were complementary. We took inspiration
from 1940’s clothing and 1960’s hair and gave it a contemporary
twist.
Q: What
advice would you give to people entering the L’Oréal Colour
Trophy Award for 2007?
A:Make sure that
you fully understand the brief, think about the fashion element
and create a look that you really believe in.
Q: What
have you done since winning?
A:As part of our
prize we re-created our winning look for a Hairdressers Journal
cover shoot and travelled to New York to shoot with premier
photographers in some fantastic studios. We have also styled
catwalk shows for L’Oréal’s Talent Spotting Competition 2006
and were commissioned to do a second shoot for Vogue, in addition
to several other prolific hairdressers as a judge for L’Oréal’s
recent ID Artist auditions.
