The L'Oréal Colour Trophy 2007
Grand Final - London

At the London Regional Final their live hairdressing skills were put under the spotlight by a panel of top hairdresser judges including Andrew Barton, Guy Kremer, Adam Reed and Alan Edwards. “The London region produced the highest standard of entries I have seen in the history of the L’Oréal Colour Trophy. Everyone who participated in the competition should feel really proud,” said Andrew Barton.

HARINGTONS – Great Marlborough Street
Nick Bland and Emma Turner from Haringtons on Great Marlborough Street are through to the Grand Final of the L’Oréal Colour Trophy 2007.
Here Nick and Emma explain the thinking behind their striking image: “With regard to the hair colour, we’re going with a metallic feel so there are elements of silver, grey and black. The style was designed to capture the feel of the sixties and in order to give it a modern feel, we offset the height of a typical beehive at the side rather than at the crown in a kind of anti-head shape.
The Harington’s team did not find out they had made it through to the Grand Final until almost two-weeks after the event. Due to an unforeseen complication, another team had to pull out leaving the way clear for Nick and Emma to take their place on the catwalk once again.
We didn’t believe it when we were first told,” said Nick. “When it was confirmed we were jumping around the salon in delight. It really is the most unexpected, amazing news!

SANRIZZ – Covent Garden
Maria O’Keefe from Sanrizz in Covent Garden is through to the Grand Final of the L’Oréal Colour Trophy 2007.

Here Maria explains the thinking behind her striking image: “There is a definite 1920’s theme to my look, inspired by the silent movie queen Louise Brooks. The gamine fringe makes this style soft and fresh and the line of shine colour work around the front is given overall precedence thanks to the neutral clothes styling and streamlined shape of the dress.”
It was a fabulous moment,” beamed a delighted Maria. “I’ve entered the L’Oréal Colour Trophy on two occasions and you just never know what the judges are going to think of your look. It is a truly amazing feeling to get through to this stage of the competition and then hear your name read out as a winner.

TONI & GUY – Covent Garden
Jo O’Neil and Efi Davis from Toni & Guy in Covent Garden are through to the Grand Final of the L’Oréal Colour Trophy 2007.
Jo and Efi explain the thinking behind their striking image: “We were inspired by the New Avengers and the strength and sexiness of Joanna Lumley’s signature Purdey. We added in a twist of James Bond heroine to create a stunning, feminine look that had real power on the catwalk.
Speaking moments after collecting the award, Jo and Efi exclaimed; “We were stunned to hear the name of our team read out and it took a few seconds to register what was happening. The cheers from our supporters could be heard across London! It was an electrifying moment.

SANRIZZ – Knightsbridge
Leanne Brown and Dominco Sansone from Sanrizz in Knightsbridge are through to the Grand Final of the Men’s Image Award of the L’Oréal Colour Trophy 2007.

Leanne Brown explains the thinking behind their striking image: “I’m really interested in images from the 1920’s and 1940’s and I wanted the movement of the hair to reflect the style of these times. I had a very clear vision of what I wanted to achieve with the overall look and worked closely with my model to come up with an outfit that truly suited his personal style.
It didn’t seem real at first,” explained a stunned Leanne. “This is the first time I’ve entered the L’Oréal Colour Trophy and I was determined to push the boundaries of men’s fashion.

HEADMASTERS – Fulham
Sam Eaton, at the age of just 22, a talented young hairdresser from Headmasters in Fulham is through to the Grand Final of the Young Colourist Award of the L’Oréal Colour Trophy.

Here Sam explains the thinking behind her striking image: “I wanted a subtle, soft-focus wearable colour that was still striking and beautiful. Bobs really took over the catwalks, so I felt it was the perfect cut to compliment the colour.
I was really shocked to win, I didn’t expect it at all because all the entries were so strong. I am so excited to be through to the final, I really can’t wait! The reaction we have had in the salon from staff and clients has been amazing everyone is so excited and supportive, its created a huge buzz with everyone wishing me well for the final.
