MACK
– Chelmsford
Catherine Seeman and Lisa Redman from Mack in
Chelmsford are through to the Grand Final of the
L’Oréal Colour Trophy 2007.
Catherine and Lisa explain the thinking behind
their striking image: “We went for a strong,
vibrant, copper colour on Clare’s hair, integrating
the autumnal look and colour. The outfit was chosen
to compliment the hairs rich, warm tones, whilst
the satin neck tie continued the nod towards the
tom-boy look and then finished with the feminine
touches of the satin texture.”
“All our hard work and research paid off,”
beamed the girls. |
“We
were absolutely delighted with how stunning our model
looked when she stepped onto the catwalk and words can’t
express how ecstatic we felt when our number was called.
It’s a great feeling to be going to compete at Earl’s
Court knowing that all of the team here are behind us.”
OPTIONS
HAIRDRESSING - Chelmsford
Kay Padfield-Krala from Options Hairdressing in
Chelmsford is through to the Grand Final of the
L’Oréal Colour Trophy 2007.
Kay explains the thinking behind her striking
image: “I wanted to present a strong shape
that had real depth in the colour. I looked outside
the industry when picking the colours and found
myself wandering the aisles at my local DIY store
to use the mix and match paint cards to see which
shades worked well together. The result is a beautifully
rich mix of autumn berry tones and soft coppers.”
“The competition for a place in the Grand Final
was fierce this year,” said salon owner Norman
Ellis. “I can normally predict who will be
in the top five however this year it was |
 |
difficult
to pick out the top ten! Kay has done an incredible
job and her success lies in keeping the overall effect
simple and impossible to fault. It’s an amazing achievement
for the whole salon and we are all behind Kay as she
goes on to compete against the best hairdresser’s in
the UK.”

SAKS
– Great Yarmouth
Heidi Lain and Jane Calder from Saks in Great
Yarmouth are through to the Grand Final of the
L’Oréal Colour Trophy 2007.
Heidi and Jane explain the thinking behind their
striking image: “We both love the romance and
femininity of French chic and looked to film’s
such as Amelie for our initial style direction.
This look was then given a sixties twist inspired
by Mia Farrow’s infamous crop and the style was
blow-dried with lots of volume and lashings of
gloss. The use of copper, blonde and beige tones
to gives an overall feeling of natural softness.”
“We are ecstatic,” exclaimed the girls.
“The team did a double-take when we heard our
name read out and honestly had no |
idea
that we would get through. This is our sixth time in
the Grand Final and the feeling of achievement never
diminishes. We’re really chuffed.”
KENNADY’S
HAIRDRESSING – Ingatestone
Noel Gibbins and Hannah Jarvis from Kennady’s
Hairdressing in Ingatestone are through to the
Grand Final of the Men’s Image Award of the L’Oréal
Colour Trophy 2007.
Noel and Hannah explain the thinking behind their
striking image: “The haircut was inspired by
both the 80’s pop scene and The Beatles ‘Rubber
Soul’ era” explained Noel of Kennady’s winning
look. “We wanted to smarten up the casual-but-trendy
male style and turn it into something unique with
strong catwalk presence. Our look represents the
evolution of the ubersexual city worker – understated,
yet undeniably cool.” |
 |
“It
truly was a group effort” says Noel of the salon’s
recent win. “We share a strong team ethic that pushes
us towards a larger goal and the L’Oréal Colour Trophy
is very high on our agenda. The Men’s Image is an increasingly
challenging category, and we collectively fought hard
for our place at the Grand Final. For me personally,
this award is the Holy Grail – to get this far means
everything to me.”

CIENTÉ
– Hertfordshire
Serafina Woodward, at the age of just nineteen
is an ambitious young hairdresser from Cienté
in Hertfordshire and is through to the Grand Final
of the Young Colourist Award of the L’Oréal Colour
Trophy.
Here Serafina explains the thinking behind her
striking image: “I wanted to present a very
glamorous look that would appeal to my clients
as much as it would suit the pages of a top fashion
magazine like Vogue. Using the catwalks as my
inspiration, I kept the style really simple, full
of shine and effortlessly elegant.” |
“The name of our
salon was mispronounced when it was read out on stage
so at first I didn’t think I’d won,” said Serafina.
“Then my picture was projected onto the big screens
and I realised what had happened. I ran on stage straight
away and couldn’t stop crying when I got back to my
team. It was an amazing”
