Upon meeting Tiff J, salon owner and Creative Director of 3thirty hair & beauty
salon, youre immediately struck by her quiet, enigmatic nature.
For someone who at the tender age of 26 has just launched their own hair and
beauty salon, her humble demeanour is one to be admired. Tiffs passion for hair
materialised at the age of 12 when she started working as a Saturday girl in her
older sisters salon. She was intrigued by how the art of hair styling immediately
transformed a persons appearance and persona and decided there and then that
hairdressing was her calling.
As soon as Tiff finished secondary school she went to studied hairdressing at
college and graduated 2 years later aged 18 with a NVQ Level 2. Her hairdressing
career officially commenced with a junior position at a newly opened salon, Identity
situated in the heart of the Shoreditch triangle.
Soon enough, Tiffs insatiable appetite to master all the facets of the hair
arts resolved in her encompassing the expertise of afro hair styling, cutting,
colouring, bridal hair styling and the various hair extension systems. Her devotion
to honing her craft combined with her natural ability to engage with clients and
motivate staff didnt go unnoticed and within a few short years, Tiff went from
junior to Style Director. In 2008 Tiff was shortlisted for the LOreal Colour
Cup Trophy for her awe inspiring colouring technique and creative vision validating
her innovative artistry.
2009 aged 25, after 7 productive years at Identity, Tiff began contemplating about
owning her own salon. Given the current economic climate it was an ominous time
to start up a small business, especially within the service industry-even more
established salons were struggling to hold on their clientele much less. Nevertheless,
always one for taking the road less travelled, Tiff left the safety net of Identity
and embarked on pursuing her dream with the support and encouragement of husband
Harvender. Within weeks of putting in an offer for a shop floor space on 330 Old
Street, her application was granted and 3 whirlwind weeks later, Tiff and her
husband Harvender were the proud owners of 3thirty hair & beauty salon.
Nestled in the affluent city streets of EC1, 3thirty provides a serene sanctuary
for the hard working individual, which seamlessly amalgamates a homely environment
with hints of decadence and glamour. The salon is bathed in a soft, flattering
light which resonates from two magnificent chandeliers suspended from the high
ceiling. In the waiting dwells an irresistibly plush lounging chaise awaiting
you to sink in and delve into the vast sum of glossy magazines strewn across an
adjacent coffee table. Depicted on the wall directly behind is a charismatic airbrushed
sketch which deliberately disjointed from its elegant surroundings to add to the
salons eclectic character. The large antiquated ornate gold framed mirrors in
the styling area openly demand you to gaze at your reflection, its regal design
alluringly stunning.
With a burgeoning list of clients, elite staffing and exciting photo shoots scheduled,
Tiff is already thinking about expanding her business venture. Her passion for
acquiring knowledge attributed greatly to her eminence and by eventually setting
up a training academy in the future, Tiff hopes to inspire other trainees to do
well in their careers by being exposed to all the creative and practical facets
of the hair industry. Tiff Js modest demeanour is a refreshing rarity but shouldnt
be misconstrued for submissiveness for her rising star is a force to reckon with.
