 Hani asks:

I have got very bad frizz in my hair it actually developed after my use of Isotretinoin for 8 months for acne cure. I regularly use a good shampoo and a conditioner for dry frizzy hair but it isn’t helping me much. No hairstyle is visible in my hair due to this frizz. Could you please tell me some product that is the ultimate to take care of frizz!

Every other week add a little drop of baby oil into a warm bath. Bathe for a while and soak your whole hair in the water. Do not rinse out. When you get out the bath, towel dry your body and hair and comb through leave to dry naturally. This at first will feel strange because you will be left with a residue all over especially your hair and you may not feel clean, however this will add moisture not only too your now frizzy hair but also your body. Do this for about a month.

 Ruddy asks:

I have very thin hair and am a female I want to find a new style so I don’t have to keep wearing it up as I have hair loss mainly in the front and top of the crown - could I have a fringe of will that make me look too bald - any ideas welcomed I am so desperate to have a hairstyle which is down so I don’t look like a child but an adult and doesn’t make people stare at my head or lack of hair all day The first step is to find out why you have hair loss and thin hair as it may be caused by a medical condition. Make an appointment to see a qualified Trichologist - they specialise in problems of the hair and scalp, or your doctor.

Dawn CooperAnswered By:

Once you have been given the all clear get your hair professionally styled. A fringe is a great idea as they can turn a pony tail or hair up into an on-trend, sharp style. Do not attempt to grow your hair for extra length as this will make hair loss more noticeable.

Try Racoon International’s hair extensions to give your thin hair extra body and volume. They are gentle on your hair and their range of shampoos and conditioners are lovely too. Contact Racoon’s head office on 01295 770999 to find your nearest Racoon stylist who has been on the company’s new trichology course.

 Rosie asks:

I have used Henna and Indigo as a hair dye and now have black hair! I was originally platinum blonde, I loved the colour but ALL of my body left. I had great waves and I was left with pin straight hair. It also makes me look like I am balding when my blondes grow in against the black dye. I have used EVERY keyword imaginable to search for a removal method and can only find lightening if you are so lucky to get even that! I did read one exception where a woman’s wizard of a hairdresser used a fruit extract hair colour stripper. He applied it 1x a month for 3 months until she was platinum blonde again. I am praying this will work and was hoping you could give me some info on where to find them or brands that I can refer to my hairdresser. I have tried EVERY other hair stripper including tide laundry soap, 30 and 40 cream developer, colorzap, coloroops. All I got was a slight lift to a burgundy red. I only tested on a 1/2 inch section of underneath hair and would greatly appreciate any advice. I want my blonde back! I screwed up and it is the longest it has ever been and I just can’t cut it!

Well I am surprised you have any hair on your head with all that you have done to it. The best advice I can give would be for you to stop messing around with the colour and go to a qualified colourist to assess your hair condition, then let them try to correct it. An expert may be able to save the day – good luck.

 Natasha asks:

I am growing my hair and my fringe is down to my eye, but when I try to style it and curve it round it always just ends up being straight, so I clip it back!!

Lee StaffordAnswered By:

You probably need a product with a little bit of hold - to keep your hair curved round until it can go behind your ear. Regular hair spray will probably give too much hold. Try something like Lee Stafford Beach Babe Salt Spray which gives your hair just the right amount of hold and body without looking too ’done’! Another great way of disguising a fringe that is growing out is to simply pull it back with a head band or a band. These bands keep fringes in check giving serious Grecian glamour at the same time. You can mix up the look by putting hair up or simply leaving it down and tousled, depending on what look you want.

 Maria asks:

I have coloured hair with only a few slices of blonde in, and want to chemically straighten my hair with Indola silk straightening system as it is very frizzy and I have to constantly straighten it, would you recommend this as a cure which will also spend less time using heating appliances.

Lee StaffordAnswered By:

Frizzy hair can be a real nightmare, especially with our typical British weather! As your hair is coloured already I would try to avoid any more chemical treatment if you can, as you can loose shine and body. Instead try products which help to straighten out kinks and frizz from the first stage Lee Stafford Poker Straight Shampoo contains ingredients to help tame kinks, gently cleanse and soften but protect from harsh heat damage. Lee Stafford Poker Straight Conditioner with P2Fifty leaves hair super straight and glossy. Follow with Lee Stafford P2Fifty Professional Straightening iron protection mist which protects your hair from the damage that straighteners can do - meaning that your hair is straighter and sleeker with less heat and effort!

 Georgia asks:

My hair is naturally wavy and frizzy. I really don’t like it so I straighten it most days. However, the problem is that it is also very thin, which is ok when I don’t straighten it, but when I do, it looks really thin and you can even see my ears through it. How can I make it look thicker?

We have a fabulous range of products from Sebastian that have a number of products called "Body Double" that really fill any hair full of volume and are endorsed by Victoria Beckham. There is a mousse called Thickify styler that is great! A lot of salons use the products so you could call in and ask can you try them. We offer a service of trying the products on a section of your hair without charge and then you know what your hair feels like with the product.

 Lucy asks:

I have fine, flyaway hair and an oval shape face. I recently had my hair cut to about jaw length. Now, it just looks like a bowl cut. What hairstyle would suit my face and is there ANYTHING I can do to encourage my hair to grow faster, or even make it look less like a bowl cut?

Darren MessiasAnswered By:

The good thing with your situation is that an oval face shape pretty much suits all styles.

If your hair is one length I would definitely suggest having some layers put through, as this will add body and texture to your style, and at the same time hopefully make it look less "bowl" like.

 Sinead asks:

I have very thick hair which I leave to dry naturally and then use straighteners, I have a side parting from left to right and it always looks limp and awful. I would love to know how to style my hair in the shape of say Samantha Janus with her side parting but don’t know how, can you help with tips please.

Lee StaffordAnswered By:

When styling your side fringe it is important to draw volume up from the roots. Before blow drying, apply a volumising gel or spray to the hair, blow dry to the side lifting up from with a flat brush, from the root – this should form a natural arch. When the hair is 90% dry you can use the flat brush again to curve the ends of your sweeping fringe under, straightening irons can be used to help with this at the very tips. You can also try my Volume Detox Hot Shots Treatment to enhance the body of your hair - this will remove dulling deposits that weigh down the hair, to restore balance and improve body.

 Yemisi asks:

I have afro hair which grows well except that I have bruises when I make my hair. I had to cut it two years ago but have started Growing it now. The problem I see now is with the braids I find my frontal hair having white stuff at the roots and my scalp dry. When I had it cut I texturised and washed minimum twice a week and didn’t experience any dryness. I don’t want to have frontal hair loss. What do I do please?

Dry hair, a dry scalp, flaking scalp and dandruff are the result of one or more elements depleting your body’s natural oils before they can reach your skin and hair. Getting back your healthy scalp and hair will likely mean making a change in your daily cosmetic regime, your diet and taking better steps to protect yourself from drying influences. In extreme cases, seeking professional help might also be an option. Here are some of the most common causes of dry hair and scalp:

Harmful chemicals found in cheap and over-used hair products over processing of hair and roots after chemical treatment Harmful cosmetic habits, like twenty minutes under the blow-dryer and curling iron overexposure to harsh weather, especially cold winter air braiding or corn rowing which is too tight and is constantly pulling on the hair root. Allergic to synthetic fibre which is used to cornrow hair a diet lacking in necessary vitamins dehydration not taking in enough fluids like water. An untreated skin condition, such as eczema, psoriasis, or seborrhoea dermatitis changes in your hormones which often change the way your hair and nails behave

I think the best way to begin is to examine the recent changes you have made which resulted in your scalp becoming dry and flaky. It would seem to me that your braids are also too tight which could result in traction alopecia.

Try to relieve any stress points on the hair, take in more liquids, and use a quality shampoo and conditioner and take some vitamins.

 Sharday asks:

How to grow relaxed hair? My hair is relaxed but not growing very much as it used to be. Can you help me please?

Diane ShawAnswered By:

Your hair has been chemically treated and could be going through a reaction as a result of the chemical straightening treatment. Your hair will not stop growing, but the growth rate might be somewhat slower.

Healthy hair really starts growing from inside the body, so I suggest you give your hair roots a boost by taking some hair and nails vitamins.

Keeping your hair in tip top condition is also important, so use a good daily leave in conditioner to keep the moisture levels up.
