|Cut It Like Beckham
The National treasure that is ‘David Beckham’ caused
a stir with his new hairstyle on Thursday night at the
Laureus Sports Awards. No sooner had Victoria finished
fluttering her lashes beneath her sassy new blonde bob,
than Golden Balls appeared on the scene and set the
photographers clicking too.
No stranger to reinvention – in the past he’s played
the field of style changes, from a mid-parting cut,
a Mohican, long blonde, neo-nazi to the Alice band.
With Britney Spears sporting the amazing ‘you won’t
want to photograph me now I’m bald’ style, Beckham had
to dig deep to find something more original. Now that
they’re going to live in the States, a short Beck and
sides was the answer. Cut close over the ears and longer,
but beautifully fussed on top. If he were 20 years older,
he would be facing accusations of wearing a ‘piece’!
A Brand By Any Other Name
The ‘brand’ called Beckham has limitless outlets, whether
you’re male or female you can style your hair like them, wear
their fragrances and smell like them, play in his football
boots or dress in her new DVB fashion range. If only money
could buy the secret of their success and universal appeal.
Iron Age David Beckham
Could David Beckham be some kind of footballing ‘Timelord’?
Scientists based at Dundee University have recreated the face
of a man dubbed the ‘Iron Age David Beckham’ as there is evidence
that he gelled his hair! They think the man used a kind of
Iron Age hair gel made from vegetable oil mixed with resin.

Clonycavan Man, is named after the area he was
found in a peat bog in the Republic of Ireland in 2003
(perhaps an ancient football pitch and following another
missed penalty!) The chemical composition of the peat
mummified the body, enabling scientists to recreate
his face. The ‘Iron Age David Beckham’ has been recreated
with slicked back, gelled hair and striking good looks.
