Views & tips from your side of the counter........

3 for 1
Most of us want versatility from our style. These 3 basic looks were achieved from the same basic cut.
A variation of the feather cut was styled into a side parting with sides tucked behind ears and smoothed with wax. Flicks at back were curled upwards by blowdrying with a round brush.
For an alternative look, hair was finger dried forward to frame the face with the back flicked out sharply.

Problem Solved!
Sore eyes? Eye problems can be a sign that you're lacking in B vitamins, found in wholegrain foods. If you get a lot of styes you're probably run down and need to increase your daily intake of fruit and veg.

5 Ways To Boost Your Energy

1 Snack on bananas and dried fruit for a quick lift. Bananas contain calcium, iron and potassium which all strengthen the body. Other fruits such as apricots are rich in

Beta-carotene - this helps boost blood circulation and combats tiredness.

2 Increase the amount of fresh veg in your diet to gain a natural source of sugar. Veg should be eaten raw when possible, as they are easier for the body to digest and will raise your energy levels instantly. Try serving carrot sticks with your salads or sandwiches.

3 Cut down on empty calorie foods like white sugar and flour, and the foods made with them such as cakes, biscuits etc. These are hard for the body to digest and put a strain on the digestive system using up valuabel energy. If you can't give them up altogether, do try to at lease halve your weekly intake and you should notice a difference!

4 Reduce your coffee and alcohol intake dramatically. The Vitamin C and B-complex

Vitamins that we need for stamina are all destroyed by alcohol. The caffeine found in coffee minimises our ability to absorb iron when we eat it at mealtimes. Note that vitamin supplements can be destroyed by swallowing them with your cuppa, so always take them with a glass of water.

5 Eat more food containing starch such as rice, pasta and potatoes. These are rich in slow burning carbohydrates and they'll release energy throughout the day. For an added advantage
choose wholewheat varieties of rice and pasta and leave skins on potatoes wherever possible.

Problem Solved!

Brittle, lifeless hair? Your hair should be healthy and shiny - if it s thin or dull, your diet may be lacking in essential nutrients. Losing your hair can be a sign of iron and zinc deficiency. And if you don’t eat meat - a major source of iron - try to catch up by eating green leafy vegetables, dried apricots, egg yolk and oatmeal. Fish is a good source of zinc.

This Week Nicky Clarke

Q. I dyed my dark blonde hair a lot lighter months ago but now want to go back to my natural shade. What is the best way to go about it?

A. The best way is to have lots of lowlights put in and reduce them gradually over time. Keeping your hair in tip-top condition whilst you go back to your natural shade is important - use an intensive conditioner on mid-length and ends and keep hair trimmed regularly.
