Growing
layers out is always difficult. Try having your hair cut
in a style that will narrow the gap between the length
of your layers and the bottom of the style. A great look
to try is a chin-length bob.

HAIR
FIXES
Turn your
head upside down to get lift when blow drying. Hold by the
roots until hair is cool to keep the created body.
Take a
minute to put Vaseline around your hairline when colouring
your hair. This will save you staining your skin.
Spray
brush with hairspray. Run through hair to prevent flyaway
strands.
A brilliant
way to revive your sagging curls if youre in a hurry is to
apply some spray gel, then scrunch them gently with your fingers
to give them some body.

TRIED
AND TESTED MOUSSES
|
 |
A recent
top hair magazine tried and tested four mousses on the market.
The results were:-
SAM
McKNIGHT BIG MOUSSE
A surprisingly
small amount was needed to give really big hair! Held in place
all day and although a bit more expensive than the others
it was worth every penny.
Rated
5 out of 5 *****
LOREAL
ELVIVE FREESTYLE MOUSSE
Excellent
for fine hair and only a small amount of the light formulation
was needed. Good strong hold with no stickiness at a great
price.
Rated
5 out of 5 *****
SALON
SELECTIVES BODIFYING MOUSSE
Nice smell
with good hold, hair looked much fuller and the style lasted
but the mousse did feel a bit sticky.
Rated
4 out of 5 ****
CHARLES
WORTHINGTON BOOSTER MOUSSE
Nice dispenser
and gave a lot of shine. Did leave hair soft and natural but
didnt add much to the body or fullness.
Rated
3 out of 5 ***

TOP
TIP
Always
be realistic about colour changing your hair. Think
how much effort will be needed to maintain your choice.
Highlighting or full-head tints can damage hair
youll need to spend extra time on conditioning and
blow dry more gently. If you need a wash and go
routine you may be wiser to opt for a less time consuming
temporary rinse which will need less aftercare.

STYLING
HINTS IN A HURRY
If you want
to cut down the drying time on longer style, wrap your hair in
a towel to get rid of most of the water, then rough dry with a
hairdryer.
Use a blow
drying lotion to dry hair more quickly and smoothly.
Check the
list of ingredients on your products those with a high oil content
will prolong drying time.
Switch your
hairdryer to a faster speed rather than a higher heat setting
a faster flow dries your hair quicker than heat.
HOW
TO FIND A GOOD HAIRDRESSER
Word of mouth
is about the best recommendation. Most salons will be only too
happy for you to call in and discuss your hair before you make
an appointment. Take note of how many ideas the stylist gives
you and be prepared for a honest opinion as to what he/she thinks
you can achieve. Be honest as to how much time and effort you
are able to dedicate to your hair. If your good friend uses that
salon, mention that you might want a similar style (if you do)
hairdressers have remarkable memories for customers hair types!
HOW
TO GET A GOOD HAIRCUT
The best haircuts
of all are those that are versatile. Aim for something you can
dress up or wear casually, something that can be altered by a
different blow drying technique or styling product if the mood
takes you. There is no doubt that a layered cut is one of the
most versatile and allows more options than a one-length cut.
Look through magazines with your stylist and ask how certain styles
could be changed. Once hair is cut, practice at home for the first
few washes, altering the style each time you blow dry and see
how different products can give your different results.
HOW
TO STYLE LIKE A HAIRDRESSER
Choosing the
right style in the first place will make it easier to handle at
home. Ask your stylist to recommend which products are likely
to give you what you want to achieve, and dont overdo it. Too
much gel or wax can make hair appear dull and lifeless so use
sparingly until you find the right amount for you. And think how
much time your stylist takes to section and dry your hair! Try
not to hurry if you want to achieve longer lasting hold.
