The Snipping News
Day Eleven: Friday 17th November
Live for BBC Children in Need
Celebrity Scissorhands winners announced:

Steve Strange, Scott Mills, Michelle Dewberry, Ortis Deley and Darren Day were crowned the winners of Celebrity Scissorhands, live on Children in Need tonight. The celebrities were flying by the seat of their pants as the Academy threw open its doors to members of the public and a host of celebrities taking part in Children in Need. First through the door were Kim and Aggie from "How Clean is Your House" who had a make-over from Steve and Michelle. Then Michael Ball popped in for a manicure from Ortis. Michael admitted that he nibbled his nails and he was in need of some filing. Scott and Steve gave manicures to the "Two Pints of Lager" girls Natalie Casey and Kathryn Drysdale. Meanwhile Darren got his hands wet giving a pedicure to Bad Girl Vicky Alcock. And that was just within the first hour of the night!

Alan's legs:
BBC Executive Alan Yentob arrived in the Academy for a leg wax following DG Mark Thompson's visit earlier in the week when he had his beard shaved off. Alan opted for the more painful option which, he admitted, was "very, very strange." He went on to explain that the beard wasn't an option "as I'm making a programme at the moment and it would have looked odd to have a beard in just some of it, so something else had to be sacrificed." He looked a bit taken aback when Scissorhands presenter Alex Zane asked to touch them: "you might find you're walking a bit quicker now as you're more aerodynamic," Zane joked. "I was very brave," Alan eventually admitted. "I could have screamed a lot!"

During the night:
Darren Day almost lost his nipples when Sharon Osbourne started to shave his chest. She'd been in the Academy to film a special sketch for Children in Need and was admiring Day's array of tattoos when she reached for the clippers. Lee had to finish it off for him once she'd left!
Will Mellor and Ralf Little arrive to be made-up for their appearance as '80s duo Wham! "I can't remember saying yes to this," admits Ralf. They're escorted into the beauty room and asked to change into paper pants so that Michelle, Ortis, Scott and Darren could start with the instant tan. "I can't even remember Wham, I was only born in the 80s," says Michelle while she smears Will in brown gunge. Scott and Steve insist that Wham were "really, really orange" so they slap on even more before Steve takes over doing make-up. Once the boys have changed into their colourful costumes they gave the Academy a sneak preview of their routine.
Chris Moyles came in for a kiss and cuddle with Scott. "I've got to get you out of here," he whispers to Scott. He plans to bring in a Pudsey costume and sneak Scott out undercover.......
As part of the climax of Celebrity Scissorhands, Steve Strange set a new world record of the number of heads shaved in an hour with a new amazing total of 34. He was half way through his 35th shaving when the final whistle blew but finished the client off anyway. "Steve Strange has done 35 decent haircuts today," quipped Academy manager Lee Stafford. He was presented with his official certificate by a Guinness Book of Records official.
